Any modifications to the original lighting design at a facility should be done so that the quality of the lighting environment is not diminished. Exact illumination levels have been established to be maintained for specific tasks in the workplace. Some inexpensive projects can be done, however, that do not significantly affect these light levels. They can be implemented by the maintenance staff, often without engineering design or approval.
