There’s nothing better in all the whole world than home-grown cherry tomatoes. They have ten times the flavor of store-bought tomatoes. In the springtime, all the garden centers stock up on small tomato plants that you can plug into some soil in a sunny spot. Or you can start early when it’s still cold out with a seedling starter tray. I grew some bamboos from seeds last year in one of those tray kits, and got excellent results (bamboos are notoriously difficult to grow from seeds). My yard has several pyracanthas I grew from seeds in my starter tray.
If you have limited garden space, plant some tomato seedlings in old plastic food containers (plastic ice cream bins, milk jugs cut in half, anything else plastic) and grow your cherry tomatoes on a balcony or on the back porch. All they need is good well-drained soil, sunshine, and water. Here are a few tips on growing tomatoes in a pot.
