My Story
My father was a chemical engineer for Humble/Esso/Exxon. I can remember from an early age his admonition, “Don’t stand in the refrigerator door!” I’ve been aware of how energy is consumed ever since.
A few years ago, I spent a whole year investigating all the latest energy conservation books and websites, collecting every small way to save energy on the planet. The first edition was published by Dorrance Books. Their book was full of errors and typos, so I canceled the $10,000 contract and typeset it myself using Adobe InDesign and self-published it on Amazon.
All the illustrations are hand-drawn. When I first started in the building engineering/design/construction business, I worked as a manual draftsman. I still enjoy drawing tech diagrams.
About the Book
Chapters cover all areas of a home: kitchen, utility room, HVAC, electrical, hot water heating, windows, roof, and the building envelope in general. You’ll learn how many fast-start appliances consume energy 24/7 and how to stop that. There’s also a chapter on driving and the road. Most tips apply to your job or place of business.
That’s a LOT of tips to remember! Until you understand why they work, this book explains the energy dynamics clearly and with detailed drawings where applicable.
